Our firm was founded by Samuel Dergel, a widely respected executive recruiter, executive coach, consultant and corporate trainer. Samuel has been successfully involved with executive search and consulting for over 16 years. He founded a successful financial recruitment firm in 2001, and joined a global top-ten retained executive search firm in 2012.
Samuel Dergel is a widely respected consultant, executive recruiter, executive coach and corporate trainer. He is Founder and Principal of Dergel Executive Search, a search firm working with companies across the United States and Canada. Prior to joining the world of executive search, Samuel started his career in audit and advisory services with Ernst & Young, and went on to financial leadership roles in the Manufacturing and Technology sectors. He is an active CPA (in the USA and Canada), Chartered Accountant (Canada), a Certified Personnel Consultant, and is a graduate of McGill University.
Samuel has been successfully involved with executive search and consulting for over 16 years. Samuel is an active blogger, social media leader and speaker on the topic of the role of the Chief Financial Officer. He is regularly called upon by media and other groups to better understand the CFO and their relationship with the people they deal with.
Samuel works with senior executives as an executive coach, helping them become more effective and successful CXOs. He also assists Chief Financial Officers with the development and training of their finance team to meet current and future needs, and runs CFO Peer Groups that help senior finance executives learn, grow, share and network together.
Samuel is the author of Guide to CFO Success: Leadership Strategies for Corporate Financial Professionals, published by Wiley & Sons.
As a Principal at Dergel Executive Search, John Gradek brings both technical as well as management experience to his executive search assignments. He is a member of the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals and various industry groups and professional associations.
John’s executive search assignments have focused on leadership roles in engineering and operations organizations including assignments for roles such as CxO, functional VP, consulting VP, Engineering and R&D VP, Supply Chain and Logistics leadership, Strategic Management leadership among others. John has earned the respect of the Engineering and Operations communities through his in-depth understanding of business best practices and his ability to identify best-in-class candidates for ever-changing and challenging roles.
John’s career has spanned the transportation industry as well as the energy field. John has held senior management roles with responsibilities including operations leadership, asset optimization, business process reengineering and capacity rationalization.
Currently John is also a Faculty Lecturer at McGill University for both undergraduate and graduate courses in Operations Management, Supply Chain, Strategic Management and Aviation Management. John has a Bachelor of Science degree in Systems Design from the Université de Montréal, a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering degree from Carleton University, and an MBA from the Ivey Business School.
